At Palm Court Karate, we believe in honouring the traditions of Goju-Ryu while embracing modern training methodologies. Our approach to karate has evolved significantly over the years, and we're excited to share this journey with you.
Traditional Goju-Ryu karate emphasizes the balance between hard and soft techniques—"Go" meaning hard and "Ju" meaning soft. This philosophy remains at the core of everything we do. However, we've integrated contemporary fitness science to enhance our students' performance and reduce injury risk.
Our supplementary training (Hojo Undo) now includes elements of functional fitness, mobility work, and strength training that complement the traditional exercises. We've found that students who embrace this holistic approach progress faster and maintain their practice for longer.
