Palm Court Karate Centre

For over 30 years, we have been teaching traditional Okinawan Goju-Ryu karate in Johannesburg, South Africa. Our mission is to develop discipline, confidence, and self-defence skills in students of all ages.

Our Story

The Beginning

The Palm Court Karate Centre was officially established in 1992 by Mario Sequeira in Constantia Kloof, Roodepoort. What started as a small group of dedicated students has grown into one of the West Rand's most respected karate schools, serving families from across Roodepoort and surrounding areas.

We practice Goju-Ryu, a traditional Okinawan style that emphasizes both hard and soft techniques. Our teaching methods stay true to the authentic traditions passed down through generations of masters.

Over the years, we have produced many black belt students, several of whom have received second and third dan black belts and now serve as instructors themselves.
