Ask the average person what Karate entails, and they will likely mime a karate chop or demonstrate a high kick. Yet true Okinawan Goju-Ryu is a comprehensive fighting system—and that includes something most people don't expect: grappling.
At Palm Court Karate, we are committed to teaching multi-disciplinary combat. This isn't about blending different martial arts; it's about revealing the techniques that have always been embedded within our tradition.
Concealed within the Kata we practise—such as Seiyunchin and Kururunfa—are devastating throws (Nage Waza) and joint manipulation techniques (Tuite). The old masters understood that combat doesn't always remain at striking distance. Sometimes, an attacker seizes you. Sometimes, you find yourself on the ground.
If you only know how to strike, you are only half a martial artist.
